Tamara Brown

My name is Tamara Brown and I love to learn! I am a Southern California native who loves all of the diversity of habitats, cultures, animals, and experiences found in San Diego. I teach at GSDA because I believe in the power of happy and thriving learners and know that every wonderfully unique child deserves a school that brings them joy. I attended San Diego State University for my undergraduate, teaching credential, master’s degree (MAT Math and Science Ed.), and now I am also working toward my Ed.D in Educational Leadership at SDSU. Learning fascinates me, and I hope that through my classes, your child will find joy in applied mathematics, science, gardening, purposeful writing, and nature. My husband Steve and I found GSDA when we began homeschooling our daughter in 2013; our son followed in 2017. Homeschooling with GSDA has proven to be an unexpected and excellent adventure for the past 13 years. I love looking back at the learning experiences my family shared in museums, parks, field trips, and learning with sidewalk chalk. It is my joy to support and encourage students and families in this rewarding journey of homeschooling. You will often find me on field trips, in the school garden, or in the classroom hoping to help students develop a love for learning and the great outdoors. I deeply believe in our school motto "GSDA- Where every moment is a learning opportunity."
